FFXIV Mimic Class With Blue Mage

I think it’s possible to make the class interesting and give it some nice lore reason to exist. Basically, my suggestion would be a Mimic class with Blue Mage as a job (but I guess we can skip the class now). The mimic is just meant to give the lore and mechanic-wise tone of the job.

 

Basically: you’re a diplomat. Who’s the quest giver? Your Path Companion, of course! [Disclaimer: I didn’t play fxiv 1.0 so this might be a bit off. I also didn't play FFXI, so sorry if those players don't like this/find it insufficiently resonating to that one.]

 

I know a lot of older players have been wondering what happened to the Path Companion. Well, not necessarily your path companion specifically, but the story would go something like this: after the Calamity, thinking everything was lost, one of the Path Companions decided to keep and try to honor Minifilia’s original wish and started building an actual Alliance with the Beast Tribes. So he’s been working with some of them (obviously different ones from the ones we’ve worked with). He has a crystal that Minfilia gave him once or whatever, so Bam! that’s the job crystal, which has been infused with his memories and achievements. He’s an Echo user, so the crystal has some stuffed power inside, but he’s not Hydaelyn’s chosen or a warrior of light so he’s not strong enough to actually bring out the whole potential of this new role, and having at last heard from you [because he’s been working with Yda and Papalymo! :O] they decided to come back and give you the crystal so that you may use its stored power and build upon it.

 

So basically, it’s a Mimic. Your quests will bring you to different beast tribes and you’ll learn through your mentor’s past efforts to build diplomatic ties with them i.e. copy their spirit and abilities. Abilities don’t have to be anything specially fancy: depending on which role BLU is going to be you can have a Basic attack, Basic defense, basic AOE, etc. As you get to more advanced levels your spiritual union with the beast tribes grow and so do your abilities. 

 

To make things more interesting: your weapon is an Orb or something simple, but it changes like Bartz’s weapons in Dissidia, according to the ability you use.

 

OR. Your attacks can actually be like our ideal summoner’s attack: you project what may basically be a mini-summon: like an aetherial ghost of a goblin giving a Goblin Punch, or an aetherial ghost of a coeurl using Hastebreak or whatever.

Make it a tank or another support dps, it could work with any role they give it. At any rate, I think this way it may bring back some missing stuff from 1.0, I think it can have some cool aesthetics, and it doesn’t have to be all that complicated.

Once I hit lvl 60 it took me 2 days to get the lvl 180 law bow. The 180 law bow is unquestionably better than the 170 Bismark EX bow drop, but ravana bow is the best (ilvl 190).

The FFXIV Machinist should have been kicked for being an idiot

Knock back moves are not necessary to the full dps rotation of any class. It's more of a tool than a dps asset, and can easily be ignored or saved for when you might actually need it.
