FFXIV Dragoon gets Second Wind, Keen Flurry, mega HP, high DEF and normal MDEF, and even takes less during B4B than others. Can CC Foresight if needed/desired.
It is strange that they failed to give FFXIV Machinist any form of survivability
It is strange that they failed to give FFXIV Machinist any form of survivability. It's something like this:
Survivable AF tier:
FFXIV Dragoon gets Second Wind, Keen Flurry, mega HP, high DEF and normal MDEF, and even takes less during B4B than others. Can CC Foresight if needed/desired. Arguably multiple mobility options that may save you from being in an AoE (rare but has happened I guess).
Black Mage gets Manaward, Manawall, and Aetherial Manipulation. Arguably the tankiest DPS, it's Dragoon or Black Mage. High MDEF, low DEF, which is better for raids than medium or high DEF and medium MDEF.
Probably not gonna die unless healers are behind or you dun goofed, tier:
MNK gets enhanced Second Wind, Fist of Earth if needed, and can CC Keen Flurry (we had some of our physical DPS CC it for T12 and T13 because why not) and Foresight if needed/desired. Regular DEF and MDEF. Shoulder Tackle, see above.
NIN gets Shade Shift, Second Wind, and Shukuchi. Can CC Keen Flurry if needed/desired. The weakest against magic of the 3 melee, to be sure, but technically the second strongest against stuff like Prey or T13 Earthshakers.
BRD gets Second Wind, and can CC Keen Flurry if needed/desired. Regular DEF and MDEF.
Dang, hope heals are topping you off for mechanics when undergeared, tier:
Summoner gets Physick (I guess? You'd never use it while a boss is attackable unless it's do or die) but at least it gets high MDEF.
First to die to Pepsiman Savage tier:
FFXIV Machinist gets ... well, nothing besides Keen Flurry if they want. So far in A1-4S that means A1S Prey and if you so choose to let DPS tank certain enemies in A2S. In fact they have normal MDEF so even though Summoner and Machinist both get roughly no tools for survival, they get hit harder by raid mechanics.
I'm actually not sure why some DPS get more or less survivability than others; Black Mage is a given, that's part of their tool set for attacking. Dragoon being the last to die otherwise over anyone else is strange, Machinist getting absolutely nothing is strange, and half the cast being able to really super mitigate physical damage mechanics, rare as they are, while others have nothing, is a bit strange.
Returning FFXIV Player Confused
which class you wanna start with, depends if you want to FFXIV DPS, ffxiv tank or heal.I would recommend you to start with Gladiator if you want to tank, Thaumaturge for DPS or Conjurer for healer, as they are a bit easier than the other classes to handle in the beginning.

The Pros & Cons of FFXIV Tank
Yep it is not the issue of not having enough Tank class but that Tank Role is generally less rewarding and satisfying when the cons of playing a tank role out ways the pros.
FFXIV Wiki:Y'shtola and Y'mhitra are a different sort of exception
I believe I was one of the first few people in this sub-forum to explicitly identify Y'shtola as Y'mhitra's sister, so I was pretty happy to see the story officially confirm their relationship in Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward.
Naming conventions of Primals
What do you think? Was this shift deliberate, or was it mere coincidence given that most of these names were already used in past FF games
Final Fantasy XIV: Dark Knight mitigation is better on this fight by a country mile
Dark Mind is up for the things you actually use tank cooldowns for on this fight since almost all the damage is Magical and gives you a lot more freedom where you decide to use Shadow Skin and Shadow Wall
